SGPC offices to remain closed on March 26 in support of farmers' Bharat Bandh call - Bibi Jagir Kaur

Nagar Kirtan from Amritsar to Delhi will also stop for a day SGPC president writes letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to open Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor Amritsar, March 25: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has supported the farmers' Bharat Bandh call given for March 26. SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the offices of the SGPC would be kept closed in support of the call of Bharat Bandh given by the farmers who are struggling against the black agriculture laws of the Centre government. Also, the Nagar Kirtan being carried out from Amritsar to Delhi to mark 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib will also stop for a day on March 26. Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The SGPC is involved in the struggle of the farmers and would be part of the Bharat Bandh on March 26. On this day, the Nagar Kirtan would reach Sri Fatehgarh Sahib from different phases for Delhi and would stop there for one day and leave for the next phase on March 27. I appeal to the sangat to make arrangements accordingly for the reception of Nagar Kirtan at every phase after March 26, with an interval of one day.” Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The government of India should give up its stubbornness and repeal anti-farmer laws. The lack of seriousness does not suit the governments. Governments have a duty to represent the interests of all sections. The SGPC is fully involved in the struggle of the farmers and the services for the farmers would continue.” SGPC president writes letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to open Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur has once again written a letter to the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi seeking reopening of Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “Now that all the institutions and places of worship closed due to corona are reopening as usual, the corridor of Sri Kartarpur Sahib should also be reopened.” Speaking at the SGPC office, Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The sentiments of the sangat were connected with Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib, the holy shrine of Guru Nanak, but the sangat was in a state of despair as the corridor of this shrine had been closed for a long time.” SGPC president said that a letter has been written to the Prime Minister of the country, to convey the sentiments of the sangat to him. Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The long silence of the government of India after the decision of the Government of Pakistan to reopen the corridor was not right. The government should take a decision on this matter soon.” Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur strongly condemned the efforts of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to demolish the wall and part of the college building of the SGPC at Budhlada. SGPC president said, "More than 7,000 students are getting education in this educational institute and this institute is the pride not only of the area but of the entire Punjab. The forced action to make some of the land of this college a part of the road is unfortunate.” Bibi Jagir Kaur said that despite several written letters from the college management, the concerned administration did not take any action regarding the agreement, while the demolition work of the college wall was started without informing them. She said that the SGPC was not against any development work but any work should be done as per rules and the administration should talk to the management instead of forcibly demolishing the building.
