SGPC celebrates birth anniversary of Bhagat Ravidas Ji

Amritsar, February 27: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) celebrated the birth anniversary of Bhagat Ravidas Ji with devotion at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on Saturday. On this occasion, after the culmination (bhog) of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, the group of Bhai Jagdeep Singh, the raagi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, connected the sangat with Gurbani Kirtan and Bhai Sukhwinder Singh shared his views on the life and ideology of Bhagat Ravidas Ji. SGPC chief secretary adv Harjinder Singh Dhami, who was present on the occasion, said that the SGPC, a representative religious body of the Sikh community, celebrates Gurpurab and other historical days at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib. “The holy baani (writings) of Bhagat Ravidas Ji are recorded in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to guide humanity. He encouraged the sangat to follow the valuable teachings of Gurbani”, said SGPC chief secretary. In the event, dhaddi Bhai Gurbhej Singh Chawinda and preacher Bhai Tarsem Singh introduced history related to Bhagat Ravidas Ji to the congregation. On the occasion, SGPC executive committee member-cum-chief spokesperson of Damdami Taksal Baba Charanjit Singh Jassowal and manager S. Mukhtar Singh, assistant secretary S. Harjinder Singh Kaironwal, and other officials were present. A large number of SGPC officials also attended the Gurmat Samagam organized on this occasion. In his congratulatory message, Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The baani of Bhagat Ravidas Ji inspires devotion to Akal Purakh as well as universal communion. By following the path shown by Bhagat Ravidas Ji for the prosperity of the society, we can make our life enjoyable.”
