The booklet ‘Sri Akal Takht Sahib – Jaan Pehchan (Introduction)’ published by the Dharam Prachar Committee was released by Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur and other prominent personalities at the Secretariat Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Friday.
This booklet written by Bhai Mohan Singh Urlana, retired granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib contains information related to Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
In addition to the motive and establishment of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the daily maryada (conduct) of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Nishan Sahib, Nagara, Amrit Sanchar at Takht Sahib, historical tamarind tree and holy historical weapons, a brief history, etc, are part of the booklet.
This booklet published by the Dharam Prachar Committee of the SGPC will be distributed to the Sangat (devotees) free of cost.
While releasing the booklet, Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib said that its release on the occasion of Foundation Day of Sri Akal Takht Sahib holds importance.
Giani Harpreet Singh said that it was the need of the hour to acquaint the Sangat with the history and traditions of the institutions of the Sikh Panth and it was a commendable initiative of the SGPC to continuously publish and freely distribute the literature among the Sangat.
Speaking on the occasion, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that besides publishing various historical pamphlets, the SGPC has also intensified its efforts to reprint the best old printed books. Under this, some books have been reprinted and more important books will be reprinted in future.
On the occasion of releasing the booklet, SGPC senior vice president Surjit Singh Bhitewad, General Secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka, member Harjap Singh Sultanwind, Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhayasi, additional secretary. Sukhdev Singh Bhura Kohna, assistant secretary Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Bhai Malkit Singh, Bhai Sultan Singh, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal, honorary secretary, Secretariat, Akal Takht Sahib Gurmeet Singh, OSDs to SGPC president Dr Amrik Singh Latifpur and Dr Sukhbir Singh, former secretary Balwinder Singh Jodrasingha and others were present.
