Amritsar, June 14:
The martyrdom day of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Guru was marked by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) at Gurdwara Sri Ramsar Sahib, Sri Amritsar.
On this occasion, after the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, the raagi jatha of Bhai Bikramjit Singh from Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib connected the Sangat (devotees) with the Gurbani Kirtan.
Meanwhile, Giani Jaswant Singh, former granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, shared his views on the history of the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev. Giani Jaswant Singh appealed to the Sangat to take inspiration from the life history of the fifth Guru and adopt Baani (Gurbani) and Baana (traditional Sikh attire).
During the religious event, the Sangat was enthralled by Gurbani Kirtan by ragi jathas and dhadis (balladeers), kavishar (poets) and pracharak (preachers), who connected the devotees with the Guru's history.
A large number of devotees paid obeisance with devotion at the shrines including Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, and Gurdwara Sri Ramsar Sahib.
Special cold water chhabeels (sweet water canopies) were also installed at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib.
On this occasion, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, Sukhraj Singh, preacher Bhai Tarsem Singh, Bhai Malkit Singh and the devotees were present.
