Bibi Jagir Kaur said that it is a matter of great concern that three sacred birs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were lost in the fire incident at Thuha village near Rajpura.
She said that as soon as the matter came to light, a member of the SGPC S. Surjit Singh Garhi had reached the spot, who delivered the damaged birs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Gurdwara Sri Dukhniwaran Sahib, Patiala.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that a similar incident was reported of burning of sacred bir of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Talwandi Sulem village in Shahkot area. The incident also happened due to electricity short circuit in a fan. She said this would not have happened if the power circuit had been inspected in time. She said that Gurdwara Committees should ensure the presence of a Sewadar at Gurdwaras at all times. At the same time, it should be made mandatory to switch-off the main power supply at night.
